Puche and the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México”
CONFERENCE ‘ART IN TIMES OF PANDEMIC’
It has been a true honor to participate as a speaker at the conference ‘Art in times of pandemic’, held on May 21 digitally. In this way, Puche and the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” joined our knowledge and our love for art in a day that, although digital, went beyond the screen because of the affection and admiration we have for each other.
It is not in vain that the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México” is considered one of the best universities in Latin America. It is also fully active in the arts, technology and research, and is the Mexican institution with the highest scientific production. In 2009 it received the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities.
Creating and catalyzing art during the pandemic
In my digital presentation at the conference ‘Art in times of pandemic’, I had the chance to engage in a conversation with students of the seminar ‘For my race my spirit will speak’, explaining how I have lived, shaped and catalyzed my way of creating as a result of the pandemic, originated by the Covid-19.
Topics such as the role of the artist in contemporary society, or art as a dynamizer and builder of relationships beyond the production of objects, were part of the issues we addressed. A very enriching conversation, which served once again to understand how we artists have channeled the crisis caused by the pandemic, particularly in my case in which my creative activity has given so much of itself.
I would like to give special thanks to Ericka Andrea Rodríguez Velásquez, organizer of the congress and coordinator of the “Centro de Estudios de Ciencias de la Comunicación”, for her interest in my work and my artistic career. It has been a real privilege to be able to the opportunity to participate in such an event, on behalf of one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America.
